In FMW, ECW, CZW, IWA Mid-South, and XPW, yes. In WWF/E and WCW, usually not. In the indies, it varies.

Okay, this is my very first post here and I really hate to laugh directly AT someone...but wow. In WWE it may vary because of a lot of different things. But every barbed wire match I've ever been involved with in the indies was real barbed wire....duh. Contrary to popular belief, there's a lot of REAL stuff involved in wrestling. If that weren't the case, I wouldn't have a bad back and a brace for every joint on my body.
