I don't know....WWE released Angle because of his injuries. He admits he needed time off, but goes ahead and signs to TNA....
1) WWE F*cked up BIG TIME
2) TNA is taking a risk signing Angle...he could break like a twig any second.
3) Angle vs. Sting & Angle vs. Styles ASAP !!!!

The TNA taping schedule should allow Angle to work twice a month and spend the rest of the time recuperating and/or hitting up some indies for some extra money. (Can you imagine the ROHbots marking out if Angle wrestled Bryan Danielson, for instance?) Yet despite working twice a month, he may have up to four appearances. It's a big selling point for TNA when they sign wrestlers.
Overall, this is a huge acquisition for TNA. As hyped as Christian was coming in, he didn't really help the product as much as they thought it would, mainly because he never reached the top tier in the WWE, so people saw TNA as a lesser federation because a mid-carder came in and competed for and won the title pretty much right away. Angle, on the other hand, has a legitimacy of holding just about every title in the WWE, plus the Olympic gold medals, and the fact that just about everyone except for me, Sluggz, and CoTT think he's on the short list of the best ever certainly doesn't hurt. Also, another major factor to consider is the fact that he didn't have to change his name like Christian and the Dudleys. Good for TNA, probably good for Angle. Hopefully, this will help change things for the better.
And I personally think Angle vs. Joe would draw huge numbers, as long as it's booked correctly.

Sounds like the guy said "Kirk Angle".
Joe/Angle could fucking rock. This is good for TNA. If he jobs to Jarrett in anyway at all, I don't care if it takes the whole TNA roster and half of the Saudi Arabian army, if he jobs to Jarrett it's over.

I still don't get it. Did he quit or got fired? And what were the reasons? I never thought I'd see Angle in TNA...what made him go to TNA was he mad at the people behind WWE?
And btw, Mcgee, I do think Christian has helped the company. For starters fans knew Cage was a main-eventer waiting to happen. Just the political WWE bullshit wouldn't allow him. Atleast I think he's worthy main-eventer. The problem was that he won the NWA Title and right off the bat he left to do a movie and you hardly saw him as much on TV...and he was the CHAMPION! That made him lose some steam. But he has everyone in the Impact Zone behind him. Plus, he's better as a heel. He's just more creative on the mic that way....there are just certain things a babyface can't say.

I'm kind of shocked by this. I never would've figured Angle to sign with TNA like this. He was supposed to be holding off on a new contract so he could heal up from injuries, and all of a sudden he's with TNA. Doesn't seem to look good for his health. I hope the guy doesn't seriously fuck himself over. I think he could help TNA get to the next level in a big way, if his body will hold out.
There's got to be more to this than anyone on the outside knows. As complimentary and such as Angle has been towards WWE and McMahon, to see him jump to TNA, damn. Either way, this was actually a smart decision on TNA's part, unusual for them. I've gotten so used to seeing them bringing in guys that WWE could care less about, that when they bring in someone like Angle, I don't know how to react.

I've always respected Angle for his achievements. Hell I even have his book! And then he goes and does something like this? In my view, they'll kill his credibility if he jobs to anyone on that roster period!

Angle V Joe = Better than most current wwe rivalrys
However JJ will probably have Kurt job to him what with his ego n daddys company. I thought Kurt would have a no-compete clause in his release

i recon he'll do like jeff Hardy, to go TNA, eventually gets signed back to WWE, Angle will come back to WWE, and i still think Christian will return.
i hope TNA knows what to do with Angle and not mess him up like WCW did to Bret.
Big swoop by TNA. He'll actually draw legitimate interest as opposed to the fake interest that the likes of Christian and Sting draw. It's weird how WWE have just let him slip out of their grasp like that. They've really given the competition a lot with this one. Joe/Angle is obviously the main match to look out for.

Fucking Hell! Angle in TNA. This is the kind of acquisition TNA needed. Did the TNA primeslot thing have something to do with the signing of Angle as well??
APC123
09-25-2006, 07:43 AM
I think he signed with TNA because he only has to work about three times a month (two Impact tapings and a PPV), unless of course he starts working indy dates. It will give his body a chance to heal up. Maybe not as quickly as it would if he didn't do anything, but a chance nonetheless.
That Damn Alright

They must have sacked him, no other explanation I can think of. It would have taken them terminating the contract for him to be able, legally, to appear on TNA.
Sounds like the guy said "Kirk Angle".
He does. very, very poor.

it's amazing how "quickly" Angle recovered from his injuries. he is a great wrestler and TNA did great in signing him, but he turned his back on the company that made him. he will probably go back to WWE soon enough. and I'm sure Angle is going to fit into the jeff jarret role. he will come in, beat jeff, then lose and here comes christian cage again.

You're talking about "smart" fans here, though. Casual fans will watch WWE and see that he is an Intercontinental Championship caliber wrestler, tops. Every time he was ever in the main event, he was obliterated. Therefore, they see that same guy on TNA and he's the world heavyweight champion, they don't think "oh, Vince must have been holding him down" or anything, they think that the talent pool is much more shallow. If you want to present your wrestlers as being on equal par with the competition, you can't make them do the favor for every WWE castoff that wanders into the picture, particularly if they never reached main event status for whatever reason.
Despite what I just said, though, I think Angle needs to be booked very strong, much like he was at the end of his WWE days. If you have two men (Angle and Joe) who seem to each be unstoppable, and you put them in the ring, there an automatic interest in it. If they are good workers like Joe and Angle, then you have a main event that could concievably take TNA to the next level. Therefore, it has to be a slow build between the two; they can't put them on December's PPV and expect it to draw like that.
EDIT: Sluggz, I think he did say "Kirk." On the TNA website, they have a video clip of it, and the first name has been taken out.

That's a joke. My passing interest has instantly been removed, and I don't think I'll be the only one. If they can't even get the fucking name of their biggest star and flashy new signing right on his debut promo, how can anyone honestly expect them to handle him correctly?

Signing Greg Valentine and Brutus Beefcake to reform the Dream Team would've made me mark the fuck out but i guess Kurt Angle is a moderately big name. However, he's not in the same league as Brutus and the Hammer.

No, when you go to www.tnawrestling.com, right on the very first page you get to, there is a video clip in the top right corner. Click on the "Play" button and wait about 18 seconds. There is no first name. Compare to Sluggo's link, where the announcer sounds like he's saying "Kirk Angle." Coincidence?

I was talking about his character more than anything. He brought a legitimacy and intensity to the ring, and they played it up pretty well. I don't think they'll be changing his character much.

I think that angle will be pushed to the stars in TNA, cuz absolutely no company is as stupid or clueless as WCW were. What they did to bret hart was a fucking crime, much in the same way, in my opinion, as what WWE did with raven.
I'm so gonna mark out big time when angle/joe is announced

FreshBase

This Samoa Joe undefeated streak is getting old now. I'd rather he just lost to Angle cleanly, probably via pinfall as i doubt TNA will want Joe to lose face by submission. Or it could go to a no contest.
