For all that loves to insult ECW and says it "sucked," here's my point of view.

Date back to 1994, when WWF and WCW was the absolute worst it has ever been. Gimmicks of race car drivers, plumbers, Repo man, etc. All of you were either a) marks or b) not watching wrestling. Either way, you all weren't "wrestling experts" because the internet was not created and you could not act like you actually knew something back then. I hated wrestling then. I live in Delewere, which is basically an extension of the Philadelphia, PA area. We get all of the same channels as Philadelphia gets. One night I was up very late, and happened to stuble across this Eastern Championship Wrestling on the Philadelphia Sports Channel. I have never seen anything like it before. Wrestlers going through fucking punishment and displaying these amazing wrestling matches I never knew existed. There weren't any fucking stupid storylines or terrible gimmicks. At this point and time, putting people through tables was unheard of in America, and I have never seen anything like it before. ECW got me hooked into wrestling and I was a fan ever since. ECW 1994-1996 was the best wrestling years I have ever witnessed.

Now smart mark idiots can order dvds or download wrestling matches from then. Of course they're going to say it sucked, it was over ten fucking years ago. Things change. Dusty fatass Rhoades is considered a fucking legend and if you go watch one of his matches, it's boring as shit, because that was a different time.

ECW influenced all of Pro Wrestling. Although nobody on this forum has the balls to admit it, it greatly influenced WWF and WCW. It's easier for me to say that becasue I witnessed it.

Every indie federation today tries to gimmick the success and innovation that ECW had. Hell they all try and use Viking Hall aka the ECW Arena for their events.

I'm the only person on this forum who ever went to an ECW Arena show, and let me tell you, TV can never do it justice. I cannot explain the atomosphere in this small, small bingo hall. Words cannot do it justice. I remember bringing my cousin, who badmouthed ECW just like all of you retards, to his first ECW Arena show and he was hooked.

Unfortunately the internet has created "smart marks" like Johnny McMantitz who think they're Dave Meltzer and know everything.

Everyone who was involved in ECW or who ever went to an ECW Arena Show or one in New York knows what I am talking about.

And now the Big Show is walking around with the former ECW World Title.

I was a WWF watching mark back in those days. Any dedicated pro wrestling fan with taste probably watched AJPW back then, not ECW, seeing as they were putting on some of the best matches ever.

I wasn't watching back then, but a Sabu/RVD stretcher match from 1996 that I just saw recently was just totally amazing.

So, was ECW only good and popular because WWF and WCW were shit at the time? Or would ECW have been good enough to get popular if the WWF and WCW were on fire at the time?

I'm not getting the point of this post.

Edit: The stretcher match was average even as far as spotfests go.

I was a mark back then. Why? Cos in 94 i was 8 years old! I didn't know wrestling. I liked Shawn Michaels, Bret Hart, Owen Hart, Razor Ramon. Actually to be fair, they were the best wrestlers in WWF at that point. Amazing WWF still managed to suck though!
