The final TNM before the weekend's King of Hardcore tournament was eventful as ever - with a fatal fiveway and impromptu tag team match keeping the action flowing as our teams prepared to battle it out to be champion!
TNM #34 - 05/08/08
Michael Manners opens the show with Kevin Starr & Jay Santini. Kevin says that last week, they finally beat Pride ProTection in the first-ever War Games match - Michael asks them how they feel about next week’s King of Hardcore tournament - can they win it??? Kevin says that he and Jay have now sorted out the problems. Says this weekend’s King of Hardcore tournament gives them both the perfect opportunity to advance up the ladder in the PWF. Kevin says that PPT will be licking their wounds after last week but there will still be some stiff competition. However, Kevin thinks they have as good a chance as anyone - and they are motivated to win the tournament.
Next we hear from CEO Neysha Spalding who announces the brackets for this weekend’s King of Hardcore tournament. Says that since PPT have two teams to enter into the tournament, there must be a Wild Card qualifier. She adds that after Walter & Will’s attack on Bryan Tucker last week, they too will have to qualify for the tournament by beating the team of Massimo & David Tucker. The winner of that match will face Jay Santini and Kevin Starr. In the other quarter-final, the team of David Tucker & The Bodyguard will face .PAD. & Bryan Tucker. The winners will face-off in the tag team semi-final, and then the winning team will then face each other in the King of Hardcore final! Neysha ends by saying that to remain as PWF Champion, Bryan Tucker will have to win the tournament. Says that’s a hard task - but says that the PWF will either witness one of the greatest triumphs in PWF history, or a brand new champion will be crowned.
We are then joined by :.PAD. in the ring. The Intercontinental champion says he’s here to announce his partner for next week’s King of Hardcore tournament. PAD needs someone he can rely on and is a true PWF Legend ….. Bryan Tucker. Out comes the PWF champion who says that because his title is on the line in this thing, he needs a strong partner, someone with the same desire to win. Bryan finishes by saying the two of them are now odds-on favourites to win next week - and in the bargain, Bryan says that if they win their match on Saturday against PPT, that will mean he will make it to his goal as being champion for one year.
Pride ProTection are in the back. David is giving a pep talk, saying that next week they have two chances to become PWF Champion and begin taking over the company. Points out that the other teams have all had their troubles recently - PAD & Bryan have never been friends, Kevin & Jay have their troubles, and Walter & Will are only together because nobody else will team with them - David says they are best placed to capitalize and win this thing. David tells The Bodyguard to take out Bryan Tucker in their match tonight. David says that its going to be very hard for Bryan to retain his title at King of Hardcore and PPT have the best chance to take hold of that belt.
Will Main Vs. Kevin Starr Vs. Massimo Hayashi Vs. Walter Craib Vs. Jay Santini
An amazing match came to an end when Jay & Kevin double-teamed Will Main whilst Walter & Massimo were fighting outside, getting the three-count after a Sideslam/leg drop combination.
Next, Bryan Tucker & PAD are chatting backstage. Bryan is wary that PPT will get involved tonight and try and hurt him. PAD says that Bryan knows he has got his back - if anything kicks off, then PAD will be there. Bryan thanks PAD for his support and heads off for his match.
In the back, Walter Craib is angry at Will Main for costing them the match tonight. Will says he’s sorry, he will make it up to Walter next week at KOH. Walter says Will better, because he is sick and tired of hearing about how great Bryan Tucker’s title reign has been. Says King of Hardcore will be the last time anyone has the chance of stopping Bryan making a year as champ. Walter says if nobody does that, then we will be forced to hear about Bryan’s great title reign for all-time. Walter says that will drive him insane as he knows why Bryan has that title, and is sick that he can’t do anything about it. Tells Will that he better be ready for next week.
David Tucker is in the back with Massimo Hayashi, who took quite a beating in the Fatal Five-way. David says Massimo is in no condition to back-up Bodyguard in his match tonight. David tells Massimo to go home and get better for King of Hardcore. Massimo slowly walks out of the arena - although it seems he didn’t really want to leave and was only following David’s orders.
Bryan Tucker Vs. The Bodyguard
This was almost over, very quickly, when Bryan went to hit his finisher, the Rock Bottom. At this point, David Tucker hit the ring and caused the disqualification. Pride ProTection didn’t care, as they layed the boots into the champion until PAD’s music hit and he raced to the ring. PAD challenged PPT to a tag team match - right here, right now - and referee Taylor Ross said the match was on.

This was a great preview of King of Hardcore, but in the end, Pride ProTection decided to save their efforts for this weekend’s tournament, getting counted out just as PAD and Bryan Tucker looked to end the match. We’ll see these teams lock-up again at King of Hardcore - this time with no rules, anything goes. It promises to be quite a tournament!!!
