This edition of TNM was all about the first-ever PWF War Games match - Kevin Starr & Jay Santini taking on Pride ProTection. Plus Walter Craib had a choice to make - apologize to Bryan for ambushing him a few weeks ago - OR BE FIRED!!!
TNM #33 - 29/07/08
The latest edition of TNM opens with Pride ProTection. David Tucker talks about how the board have made this War Games match tonight and given PPT the number’s advantage over Jay and Kevin. Says that is a massive mistake because PPT will just annihilate both Jay and Kevin - and this will set them up nicely for PPT to be crowned the Kings of Hardcore at next month’s tournament.
After the opening video, Michael Manners announces the rules for tonight’s War Games match - one member of each team will start and every five minutes, another wrestler will join until all five competitors are in. Pinfalls, submissions, count-outs and disqualifications all count and the winning team will be the last team standing! Wishes both the best-of-luck.
We then hear from Walter Craib who says that last week, Will Main pushed him over the line. However, Walter says he’s been told by the board to find a partner otherwise he won’t be allowed to enter the King of Hardcore tournament. Says he’s got no-one but Will Main to team with. Says that if Will doesn’t accept his offer, then he promises to beat the crap out of Will Main. Walter says he wants to know Will’s answer by the end of TNM.
Next CEO Neysha Spalding gives more information on the King of Hardcore tournament. Says that the PWF rules will be waived, and the tag matches will be no disqualification, anything-goes. These can be won by pinfall or submission only and says next week, she will announce the brackets for the tournament.
PWF Intercontinental Champion PAD comes out to the ring. Says last week he retained his title thanks to the disintegration of the Walter & Will team. Says he’s heard that despite their disagreement, they are entering the King of Hardcore tournament as a team. PAD wonders whether their egos will allow them to work together. In any case, PAD says he’s done a lot of work getting his own partner for the tournament. Says he needs someone he can rely on, he needs someone he can trust and can get the job done. Says the deal is almost done, but he won’t be able to reveal his partner until next week’s show. PAD does leave us with one clue, that his partner will be a true PWF legend. Who could it be?
Next Hannah Richards catches up with Kevin Starr & Jay Santini. Kev says that even though the numbers are against him and Jay tonight, they are still going to win the first-ever PWF War Games match and end PPT’s winning streak. Says he’s confident he and Jay can put their troubled past behind them and unite to see off PPT. Kev says if they can do that, then at the King of Hardcore tournament, they will have a great chance of winning the competition.
CEO Neysha Spalding comes out to the ring and calls out Walter Craib. Neysha says that Walter must apologise tonight to the PWF Champion. Walter says Bryan deserved what he got. Neysha says that she’s going to get this sorted now, and warns Walter that if he doesn’t do it, he will be fired. Neysha calls out Bryan Tucker and out comes the champion. Neysha tells Walter to apologize to Bryan for all the shit he’s put him through. Walter first off makes a heart-hearted apology - Neysha tells him to say it like he means it. Walter apologizes and Bryan accepts the apology. Bryan won’t let it drop though and continues mouthing off that Walter has mucked up every opportunity he has had to be champion. Bryan is daring Walter to fight but Walter won’t because he knows what that will mean for him.
But Bryan continues to wind up Walter and the big man shoves the champion on his ass. Bryan retaliates and shoves Walter and it looks like things are going to break down in the PWF Arena. However, out-of-nowhere, Bryan is attacked from behind by Will Main. Will is beating the hell out of the champion, and Walter loves it. Looks like Will has made his decision! However, suddenly PAD’s music hits and out comes the Intercontinental champion to come to Bryan Tucker’s aide. Walter and Will scarper having inflicted a beating on Bryan Tucker - and the war of words continued.
First-ever PWF War Games Match: Pride ProTection (David Tucker, Bodyguard & Massimo Hayashi) Vs. Jay Santini & Kevin Starr
The Bodyguard and Jay Santini started things out and this was a feeling out process that Pride ProTection got the better of. Five minutes in, Massimo Hayashi joined the action and PPT got the better of Santini - but not enough to put him away.
PPT tried to double-team Jay, but he managed to slip-out and Jay quickly hit a rollup to eliminate Bodyguard. As a result of the rules, Bodyguard had to return to the lockeroom and this left Jay Santini against Massimo Hayashi - until Kevin Starr made his entrance.
Massimo, often regarded as the fool of PPT, desperately tried to stall for time knowing he had to survive five minutes before his partner was allowed in.
Massimo tried valiantly but took a huge beating - so it was with great relief that the last participant, David Tucker, came to the ring to even the numbers.
The match was on from here and the next fall would be so important to winning the match. And it was the team of Jay and Kevin who got it when Massimo was caught with a Spinebuster and Emerald Fusion, with Jay eliminated him.
Massimo was angry and fought with Kevin Starr out with the ring when he should have been returning to the locker room. This provided the distraction David needed to hit the Downward Spiral on Jay Santini to eliminate him.
So the War Games match came down to David Tucker Vs. Kevin Starr. These two former friends battled, but as David went for the knockout punch, Kevin ducked and scooped David up before hitting a Powerslam and getting the one-two-three for the win!
As David retreated to the back, Jay and Kevin stood tall in the ring having finally got revenge on PPT for the beating inflicted over the last few months. With the King of Hardcore tournament in a few weeks, Kevin and Jay must now be considered strong favourites to win that crown! We’ve one more TNM before that show - tune in next week to find out the brackets for King of Hardcore V!!!
